The CREG and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA): a partnership dynamic to accelerate evidence-based action
The Regional Consortium for Research in Generational Economics (CREG) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), through the Regional Office for West and Central Africa ((UNFPA-WCARO),) reaffirm and strengthen their collaboration in favor of better consideration of demographic and social issues in public policies in Africa.
This collaboration is part of a shared vision based on the production and dissemination of evidence, capacity building, and dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and development actors. It focuses in particular on strategic issues such as the demographic transition, the demographic dividend, National Observatories of the Demographic Dividend (NDD), equity and gender equality, women’s empowerment, the care economy, migration issues, and other related aspects.
Through this partnership, CREG and UNFPA-WCARO intend to contribute to a better understanding of the demographic and social transformations taking place on the continent, while promoting their translation into more inclusive, equitable public policies adapted to the realities of the populations.
This dynamic reflects the shared desire of both institutions to put research, evidence and innovation at the service of informed public decisions, in order to support African countries towards more sustainable and inclusive development.
