CREG Supports Madagascar in Capacity Building for DDMI and GDDI Calibration

The Regional Consortium for Generational Economics (CREG), in partnership with UNFPA and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Madagascar, through its Directorate of Studies and Programming, is currently conducting a capacity-building workshop on the calibration of the Demographic Dividend Monitoring Index (DDMI) and its gender-sensitive version, the Gender Demographic Dividend Index (GDDI), in preparation for the establishment of the National Demographic Dividend Observatory (ONDD).

This workshop is part of Madagascar’s ongoing efforts to monitor and analyze the demographic dividend, building on previous work carried out on National Transfer Accounts (NTA) profiles. It aims to provide the country with a harmonized methodological framework for measuring, monitoring, and analyzing the five dimensions of the DDMI/GDDI.

As a regional research center and think tank, CREG has served for several years as a technical implementation partner. In this capacity, it provides technical support to the workshop through capacity building on the calibration of the DDMI/GDDI indices, as well as through the production of the DDMI/GDDI reports and the synthesis report.

Structured in three phases, the workshop began with an initial session bringing together national experts from various sectors to establish the methodological foundations and ensure an interdisciplinary approach to demographic dividend monitoring.

This workshop is part of CREG’s broader support strategy and contributes to strengthening ongoing efforts in knowledge production and evidence-based policymaking. It mobilizes research and scientific expertise to support the design of more effective public policies tailored to national realities.

📅 Period: July 6–7, 2026
💻 Format: Hybrid Workshop (in-person and online)
