Prof Latif DRAMANI at the University of Copenhagen: The Demographic Dividend at the Heart of Scientific Exchange
Professor Latif DRAMANI, President – Coordinator of CREG and a recognized expert in generational economics and demographic dynamics analysis, will undertake a scientific visit to the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, from October 25 to 30, 2026. He will be hosted by the Centre of African Studies to share his expertise and contribute to scientific discussions on the future prospects of the African continent.
The visit will feature lectures and his participation in the launch workshop of the “Modelling African Futures” (ModelFutures) project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC). As a member of the International Advisory Board, Professor Latif DRAMANI will contribute to reviewing the project’s initial progress and defining its future directions.
He will also deliver a scientific presentation entitled “The Potential and Monitoring of the Demographic Dividend in Africa: Methodologies and Findings.” He will present the analytical approaches, indicators, and tools developed by CREG to measure the demographic dividend and monitor the demographic transition in African countries, drawing on empirical and comparative findings.
This presentation will enable participants to gain a better understanding of methods for assessing the demographic dividend, interpreting monitoring indicators, and identifying the factors that promote or hinder its realization. These insights will inform their research and public policy analyses, helping identify the levers that can transform demographic dynamics into opportunities for inclusive and sustainable development.
