The Regional Consortium for Research in Generational Economics (CREG), in collaboration with the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), is organizing a parliamentary orientation workshop for the Honorable Members of Parliament of Benin on unpaid domestic work and the family care economy. The activity will take place on October 17 at the Azalaï Hotel in Benin.
This workshop is part of the continuation of the dialogue initiated among researchers, communicators, and parliamentarians during the high-level consultation recently held in Parakou. It aims to deepen discussions and strengthen a shared understanding of the concept of unpaid domestic work (UDW), also referred to as unpaid family care work.
Organized within the framework of the Counting Women’s Work (CWW) project, supported by the Hewlett Foundation, and the project “Supporting the Development of Evidence-Based Policies for Intergenerational Equity in Togo and Benin,” supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), this meeting will provide an opportunity to share updated research findings and to explore pathways for valuing care work within social protection policies.
Through this initiative, Benin reaffirms its commitment to grounding public policies in evidence, in the service of inclusive growth and greater recognition of women’s role in the national economy.
